In March 2024, FinTech Magazine recognised International Women’s Month by launching our Top 100 Women in Fintech Supplement, championing the female leaders driving gender equality and pioneering innovation across the industry.
In this Top 10, we honour the leading Women in Fintech based in the US, highlighting the incredible work they do for the organisations they represent.
10. Namrta Bhurjee
Namrta Bhurjee has extensive experience as a financial leader and is today Vice President of Global Capital Markets and Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley. Holding the position since 2021, Namrta specialises in the execution and financing of US$15bn in capital through IPOs, marketed follow-ons and block trades. She has previous experience at Barclays Investment Bank, where she was a strategic advisor to global clients across a wide range of cross-border transactions, and EY, where she was an auditor for two years.
9. Sabrina Tharani Libby
Sabrina Tharani Libby is SVP of Start Path Lead, Global Fintech and Digital Transformation at Mastercard. Dedicating the past 10 years of her career to the card-issuing giant, Sabrina first joined Mastercard as an Analyst and Researcher, rising through the ranks by taking positions as a Product Development Specialist, Global Consumer Solutions Chief of Staff and Director of Global Startup and Venture Partnerships. Now helping lead Mastercard’s Start Path programme, Sabrina is driving marquee partnerships and investments in leading global fintechs.

7. Allison Paine Landers
Allison Paine Lander is the Chief Experience Officer of Banking and Lending at UBS. With a career specialisation in omnichannel customer experience, employee experience and digital product management & marketing, Allison has been in the financial services industry for 18 years. Previously at Prudential Financial and Wells Fargo, Allison’s experience extends across some of the US’ leading financial institutions. Her abilities extend to helping design, staff and motivate a smart, scrappy team to ‘move mountains’, and has a record for delivering difficult goals on time and within budget.
6. Akila Raman-Vaseghi
Spending the last 20 years of her career at Goldman Sachs, Akila Raman-Vaseghi is experienced in investment banking, commercial banking and organisational strategy. Today, Akila is the Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer of Transaction Banking (TxB) at Goldman Sachs, a first-of-its-kind cloud-native and API-first digital cash management and payments platform. She assumed the role after two years spent as part of Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking division, and three years spent as a Partner in what is one of the US’ leading banking institutions.
5. Yolande Piazza
Yolande Piazza is Vice President of Financial Services for Google Cloud. Since joining in 2020, Yolande has helped Google Cloud deliver innovation for customers in new and exciting ways. She joined Google after spending over 14 years of her career at Citi Group, where she was CEO of the bank’s FinTech division. In this role, Yolande helped to transform and innovate ways Citi Fintech designed, created and worked to deliver new technologically-led features and services for Citi’s clients.
4. Helsa Chow
Helsa Chow has experience across many leading organisations today across multiple industries, including General Motors, Johnson Controls, Nestlé and the BMW Group Company Designworks. This array of experiences has seen her pick up valuable skills in engineering, product management, marketing construction and business development. Now, Helsa can add fintech to the impressive list skills as Senior Vice President of Citi Fintech Partnerships at Citi Ventures. At Citi for over seven years, Helsa leads fintech partnerships on behalf of Citi, fostering best-in-class innovation within the global start-up ecosystem.
3. Lori Beer
Lori Beer is recognised today as one of the most important women in US finance. As Global Chief Information Officer at JPMorgan Chase, Beer leads the bank’s global IT infrastructure and systems, overseeing US$14bn in budget. A graduate of the University of Dayton with a BS in Computer Science, Lori has specialised skills in enterprise business services, information technology, investment banking and asset management. Her experience extends across financial services in healthcare too, working at WellPoint from 2010-2013 as EVP of Speciality Businesses and Information Technology.
2. Sun Kwon-Wishik
Sun Kwon-Wishik is the Chief Operating Officer for Industrial Corporate and Investment Banking at Wells Fargo Securities. A senior advisor and leader in financial services for many years, Sun has worked for a series of leading consulting and finance organisations across her career before joining Wells Fargo Securities in 2011. This includes over three years at Deloitte as a Senior Auditor, over 12 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Business Manager, Investment Banking & Capital Markets, and almost two years at Citadel Investment Group as Chief Operating Officer of Investment Banking & Capital Markets.
1. Wendy Stewart
Top on our list of leading women in fintech based in the US is Wendy Stewart. An influential leader across finance and fintech industries, Wendy has dedicated the past 10 years of her career to leading US bank the Bank of America. In her role as President of Global Commercial Banking, one of eight lines of business at the Bank of America, Wendy is responsible for delivering integrated financial solutions to both public and private companies. Outside of Bank of America, Stewart is on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Board of Directors for Paradigm for Parity. She is also the Director of the Buckhead Coalition and is leading the workforce development efforts for the Atlanta Committee for Progress.
