Jürgen Kress
Director Product Management Integration and Digital Assistant at Oracle Cloud
Starting his career in the furniture industry, Director of Product Management Integration and Digital Assistant at Oracle Cloud Jürgen Kress worked for a manufacturing company where he could witness how all elements of the business worked together.
He completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Berufsakademie Stuttgart – now the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University – in 1997, going on to open the San Francisco office of a German IT startup to start their partner business.
As a next step Kress embarked upon a career at Austin-headquartered multinational computer technology corporation Oracle, where he has since spent more than 22 years of his career, with a mission of helping people to see data in new ways to discover insights and unlock endless possibilities. Initially, he started out in Munich as Senior Partner Manager in May 2001. He then moved up the alliance and channels team for Europe, the Middle East, and Eastern Africa, developing a pragmatic approach to the community model. For the past three years, Kress has been a member of the global product management team responsible for the partner business.
During his time at Oracle, Kress completed a master’s in Electrical Engineering through Universidade de Brasília, completing the course in 2016. As part of his research, Kress published several articles and books with the focus on integration, business process automation and unstructured high value processes.
As a self-confessed man always in need of a well-orchestrated plan, Kress likes to work hard while also enjoying life. He is passionate about having fun away from his career, with interests including sailing and kite surfing. Inspired in both work and play by his family, he says one of his main challenges in this line of work is growth and managing growth, though he is propelled to do good for his team and the wider industry by sharing knowledge. During his master’s, he enjoyed teaching business process management courses to arm students with new insights, while also taking inspiration and new ideas back to his day-to-day job.
“It's amazing to see how the IT industry is transforming,” Kress told Mobile Magazine when discussing his tenure in the cloud business and the technological advancements of the last two decades.
He added that one of the stand-out achievements for the company during his time at Oracle is the transformation for the market leadership of the integration business on premises to the cloud.
“We see many exciting use cases of technology and how it can benefit our customers. For example in conversational AI an advanced banking bot or where end-users can create ad-hoc reports in a data warehouse by voice and AI generates queries and highlights important data. Or customers using the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to offer new services as part of their digital transformation initiative.
“Today, Oracle offers a next generation platform. Our cloud native applications are built in a microservice architecture, which gives us competitive benefits. And we now offer the fastest core network of global data centres, with more than 42 regions available and nine more planned.”
