Bitget’s Mission to Promote Gender Diversity in Blockchain

Bitget has Committed to Increasing Diversity and Inclusivity in Blockchain
Bitget is Looking to Make Meaningful Change by Unveiling the Blockchain4Her Initiative, Aimed at Promoting Gender Diversity and Inclusivity in Blockchain

Despite signs of progress in the crypto space and increasing inclusivity across the wider fintech industry, significant gender bias persists.

Generally speaking, the numbers do most of the talking when it comes to demonstrating the imbalance.

A recent study carried out by Bitget revealed limited gender diversity in the blockchain funding market, indicating that female-led blockchain startups secured just 6% of the total distributed funding.

In a supposedly forward-thinking and global blockchain-based economy, can we really go on accepting the prevalence of gender bias and the way it restricts opportunities?

There Remains Significant Gender Bias in the Blockchain Industry

Bitget has itself set out to make meaningful change by unveiling the Blockchain4Her initiative aimed at promoting gender diversity and inclusivity in the blockchain industry.

The leading cryptocurrency exchange pledged US$10 million at the Web3 Hub Davos during the World Economic Forum 2024, while showcasing a commitment to fostering female entrepreneurship and recognising women’s achievements in the blockchain and Web3 space.

Creating a more inclusive funding landscape

By spotlighting the challenges faced by female-led startups, Bitget is attempting to raise awareness of and foster collective efforts towards creating a more inclusive funding landscape.

As part of its new initiative, Bitget is launching incubation programmes tailored specifically for female entrepreneurs, providing comprehensive support, mentorship and resources, and empowering women to navigate and succeed in the blockchain industry.

Blockchain4Her will also host pitch competitions for female-founded startups, offering them a platform to showcase their innovations and secure potential investments.

What’s more, an exclusive experience called the Women in Blockchain Summit & Awards will serve as a platform to celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of women in the blockchain space.

It is hoped the summit will create networking opportunities for female professionals, fostering collaboration and community building.

Finally, Bitget is inviting industry leaders to join as ambassadors for the Blockchain4Her programme, supporting gender diversity in blockchain. These individuals will advocate, engage and drive positive change, fostering an inclusive environment.

Diversity ‘vital for sustainable growth’

Bitget's Blockchain4Her scheme builds on the success of the Blockchain4Youth project, to which Bitget has also made an investment commitment of US$10m over the next five years.

Already, it has played a crucial role in inspiring the younger generation to embrace blockchain technology.

With Blockchain4Her, Bitget is making strides towards promoting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals related to gender equality with a more diverse and inclusive blockchain industry, paving the way for women to contribute, lead and thrive.

Gracy Chen, Managing Director at Bitget

"In an industry that is rapidly evolving, diversity and inclusion are vital for sustainable growth,” comments Gracy Chen, Managing Director at Bitget. “Blockchain4Her reflects our dedication to bridging the gender gap in the blockchain industry.

“Through incubation programmes, pitch competitions and recognition events, we aim to empower women to take on leadership roles in the Web3 and blockchain space. This initiative aligns with our broader vision of creating a more equitable and inclusive future through the power of blockchain.”
